Performing For The BLIND

HELP University College White Cane Day

Above is a short clip of Sasa J and George singing “The Prayer” for HELP University College White Cane Day event held on the 20th November 2010 followed by a short clip of Sasa J performing Jesus Take The Wheel.

White Cane Day, a joint educational event by (SBM) the Society of the Blind, Malaysia and hosted by HELP University College was aimed to dispel peoples narrow-minded perception towards the blind.

And YES our minds were instantly blown away as we (Sasa J, George, MWLL and ME) watched an amazing harmonica quartet dazzle us with their blowing skills as they pump out famous tunes like William Tell Overture and YMCA on their rusty but trusty handheld little metal instruments.

George and Sasa J Duet

It was Prom night for SasaJ and she performed a duet with Dinesh George Lourdes.

Originally sung by Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli, the prayer was a bold collaboration between SasaJ and George.  Singing a number like this one is a break for the norm on SasaJ’s part.

George has a stunningly deep base voice and excellent voice control.

As for the event, I can’t say much because sadly I could not attend. So those of you who did, please tell us more by leaving a comment below.

what happen b4 all her live performances

Here is a little thing I did with SasaJ before she went loco and did so many live performances... ;)

REMINDER: You can watch all our videos from clicking on the top bar where it says "Watch All Our Videos" or clicking towards the top right of our blog where it says "Blog Archive" to follow SasaJ's journey so far.

After practicing for a day or two, I dragged Melissa to a small little pub somewhere near Kelana Jaya called Mandolin. Where my dad Ronnie Felix (Prince Of Malaysia) and Alvin Fletcher was performing as the G2 which stands for "Guitar Two". My dad's the guy in the picture below looking at his Gibson guitar pretending to know the cords to there you'll be by faith hill. I think he's playing this song for the first time but a pro always know how to look like a pro... :P

When my dad introduced Melissa to the stage he misheard her stage name SasaJ and said Zaza J... LOL... If you listen carefully to the audio in the video below, you can here Melissa saying OMG...LOL.
and me shouting YAH! later... It's quite a funny clip.... :D

After we sorted out her name SasaJ (not ZazaJ) sang two songs in front of a small but to my surprise pretty packed pub. She sang There you'll be and a chinese number “Wo Zhi Zai Hu Ni” made popular by Teresa Teng

I set this one up to see how Melissa would react in front of a live, loud and in your face crowd (Way different for organized Karaoke competitions). She handled it quite well. It was also meant to give her more live band experience as she was more used to the cordless microphone and TV screen with text scrolling across kind of environment. (BUT NOT ANY MORE!)

She also wanted to experience more live performances because that TV screen can only deliver so much.

As predicted the crowd cheered and asked for more when she completed her two songs. As I was walking out of the pub a dude grabbed me and begged me to let her sing another number. I replied with my tribute to Terminator 2 Arnold schwarzenegger voice "We'll Be Back!"

According to my dad, ever since we left people have been asking for SasaJ to return and perform again with the G2. As soon as we finish up with all of her scheduled performances, I'm guessing we will return with a BANG!

Jonah Jones Rugby Sevens 2010

“Fun In The Sun” was the theme for the 2010 Jonah Jones Rugby Sevens event that was held at the Royal Selangor Club Sport Annex at Montkiara. So emotional music was certainly out of the question, we needed a snappy fast track to meet the organizes requirements.

Previously to this Melissa was just singing mostly ballads and slow numbers. So when the organizers of the event said she needed to sing a fast number we all went blank. After much thought, we brought 3 songs to the table. Absolutely Everybody by Vanessa Amorosi, I’m Alive by Celine Dion and What A Feeling by Irene Cara, they picked the latter.

Now don’t get me wrong, I am a big fan of Flash Dance but when I listened to the original track the obliviously prominent 80’s feel bothered me. So I found myself remixing it to bring it up-to-date.

On the night of the performance, Sasa was the youngest and only karaoke performer who did not need the aid of the lyrics on the TV screen to sing the song. It resulted in her walking up on stage and making the crowd go wild. Needless to say her solo performance was a success with people from the crowd asking for more as she left the building.

Ambushed at Artista!

..... It's Was September 10, 2010.

Not knowing that I specifically brought her to Artista to sing one song as guess performer, Melissa performed this piece beautifully as if she was ready and willing to do so. The number “Wo Zhi Zai Hu Ni” made popular by Teresa Teng was not one of her regular songs, but as you can see from the video attached below she did a brilliant job faking it.

The crowd at Artista was stunned at Melissa’s vocal range, and she being so young, it was obvious that she’ll only get better and better.

This was also her first time experiencing a Crazed Fan!... :D

Artista is located in the swanky Tropicana City Mall at jalan SS 20/27 petaling jaya.

RSC Karaoke Competition 2010

With an amazing vocal control and range it’s difficult to believe that this beautiful young and talented Asian songstress is only 18 years old. Melissa Wang (SasaJ) captured the hearts of the audience at the Royal Selangor Club Karaoke Annual Championship 2010 when she sang he rendition of “Ting Hai” made popular by Ah Mei.

SasaJ was the youngest contestant in the RSC karaoke competition, as of 2010 in Malaysia. She's a fine example of Fresh and Young Malaysian Talent.

Click on the video below to watch SasaJ 's solo act:-

Coming from a family of Karaoke champions, SasaJ is no stranger to live stage performance. She has major potential in becoming the next Malaysian idol, all she need’s is a strong mentor or vocal coach to train and enhance her already beaming natural talent to catapult her to greater success.

Click on the video below to watch SasaJ 's duet with Simon:-

SasaJ took home a large golden cup (1st Prize) for her duet performance with Simon and came in 3 placing for her solo performance.

But considering the amount of seasoned karaoke opponents she was up against and she being the youngest to compete against them. SasaJ ranked fairly well for 3 placing.... ;D
